10 Reasons We Are Different

Sarah Meuler, physical therapist at Good Land Physical Therapy and Wellness, working with a client.

We’ve been physical therapists for a while now and have seen a lot. We’ve worked in clinics associated with large and small hospital systems, as well as big companies and small private practices. We’ve seen great things and not-so-great things at our prior jobs. When we started Good Land Physical Therapy & Wellness, we knew that we wanted to be able to provide our patients with the best care possible and have made all of our decisions based on this goal. This makes us a little different than most other physical therapy practices.

Here are 10 reasons Good Land Physical Therapy & Wellness is different…

  1. You do not need a referral to come see us. When you’re in pain, you want relief now. Skip playing phone tag and waiting weeks to see your primary care physician or orthopedic physician. You can schedule directly on our website and find a time that works for you. We typically can get you in within a day or two (often same day!) to get you on the road to feeling better. Don’t see an available appointment? Reach out and we’ll do our best to figure something out.

  2. One-on-one appointments means better care. Many clinics overlap appointments and double book patients. In other clinics, you may not get as much hands-on treatment or may be exercising on your own or with an unlicensed rehab aide or rehab tech. Don’t waste your time and money doing stuff you can do on your own at home. At Good Land Physical Therapy & Wellness, you see Sarah or Lauren for your full appointment and get our undivided attention. This also means that you…

  3. Feel better faster. When we’re able to work one-on-one with you and get a holistic view of what is going on with your injury or condition, we are able to make quicker improvements, which means you’re feeling better faster. You also often need…

  4. Fewer visits. This often means that it is less time out of your busy week and typically leads to cost-savings overall. Other clinics often schedule patients two or three times per week regardless of what is going on. Because we get patients in quickly and provide one-on-one care, most of our patients only need to be seen once a week, every other week, or even once a month leading to fewer overall visits. We schedule based on what you need.

  5. We look at the whole body. When you come in with shoulder pain, we look at your neck and back to see how everything is moving as a whole. If your ankle is hurting, we will look at the hip and knee to see if something above is affecting how the ankle moves. Other clinics may only look at the joint on your referral and this can negatively affect progress.

  6. No arbitrary insurance-limitations or preauthorization. In other clinics, we have seen our patients and their progress negatively affected by limited insurance company policies including visit limits and preauthorization. Insurance may block coverage of additional PT sessions, affecting full recovery. Preauthorization delays can put a pause in treatment, leading to progress plateauing or even regressing. We don’t think that an insurance company that hasn’t met you should be making decisions for you.

  7. Transparent costs. Often patients assume that out-of-network treatment will be more expensive than in-network providers. Surprisingly, this is often not the case. Many clinics and hospital systems charge very high prices and you often do not know how much you owe until weeks (or months!) after your first visit. At Good Land Physical Therapy & Wellness, you know exactly how much your treatment is and you can make informed decisions. You can also request a superbill from us to submit to your insurance company toward your out-of-network benefits.

  8. If needed, we can refer you to another provider. As doctorate-trained physical therapists, we have a lot of advanced training in assessing injuries and other conditions. If we see something that needs imaging or additional testing by a physician, we can refer you to someone that would be a good match for you and specializes in your condition. We know a lot of people. 🙂 Fun fact: PTs in Wisconsin can also order x-rays if needed!

  9. We can even come to you! Recent surgery and unable to drive? Busy day and can’t make it to the clinic? Just don’t want to brave a blustery Wisconsin winter day? We also offer in-home or in-office appointments and can come to you with a treatment table and all of our necessary supplies.

  10. We seriously love what we do and want to provide you with the best care possible. We each have our doctorate in physical therapy. We’ve taken a lot of additional training in evaluating and treating conditions and provide advanced treatment techniques such as dry needling. We’re invested in helping each of our patients live as pain free as possible doing what they love to do.
